PETER KOWITZ Peter Kowitz has had an extensive stage career appearing in lead roles in over thirty professional productions ranging from the classics through to modern Australian drama, and has appeared with the Queensland Theatre Compnay, the Melbourne Theatre Company, Nimrod Theatre, Belvoir Street Theatre, the Hunter Valley Theatre and the Ensemble Theatre. He has completed a season as Den in The Hunter Valley Theatre Company's production of Diving for Pearls. Following the East Coast Theatre Company's production of Medea, Peter appeared in a new production of Emerald City for the Ensemble Theatre. Peter Kowtiz has twice received the Australian Film Industry's highest achievement award - in 1986 the AFI Award for Best Actor in a Tele-Feature for his portrayal of a Vietnam veteran in the film The Long Way Home, and in 1989 he received the AFI Award for Best Actor in a Mini-Series for his performance as the architect, David Lang in Bodysurfer. In 1989 the Variety Club of Australia named Peter Kowtiz its Television Actor of the Year. Peter has vast television experience through his lead roles in tele-features and mini-series, as a guest and as regular characters in serial television. These credits include: Tele-features: The Long Way Home, The Clean Machine, Matthew and Son. Mini-series: Bodysurfer, Ring of Scorpio, Land of Hope, The Timeless Land, A Town Like Alice. Serials: Prime Time, Cop Shop, The Flying Doctor, GP, Rafferty's Rules, The Last Resort, Keepers, A Country Practice, Richmond Hill, Carson's Law, Heartbreak High. In feature film, Peter appeared as Lewis in the Stephen Wallace film Stir, and appeared in Bill Bennett's A Street to Die and Dear Cardholder. |
